DROP BAGS

Race Management will provide transportation for drop bags to the specified aid stations. This service is provided to aid crewless runners. Those with adequate support are asked not to overload our volunteers with unnecessary drop bags.

Drop bags must be securely tied, labeled clearly with the runner's name and entry number, and deposited at the appropriate collection station established for each checkpoint on Friday preceding the race at the pre-race meeting. Drop bags must be left prior to 6:00 p.m., Friday April 25. Please do not use any paper for drop bags.  These can get wet or tear easily.

It is imperative that runners do not leave perishable items in their drop bags. It is strongly recommended that warm clothing and an extra flashlight be placed in the drop bag for fish hatchery due to possible nighttime situations that may occur prior to the finish of the race. Do NOT place glass bottles in your drop bags.

Drop bags must be left prior to 6:00 p.m., Friday April 25 at Race Headquarters

DROP BAG LOCATIONS

Drop bags are allowed at the following locations:

Aid Station #1 – Webber Creek/ Camp Geronimo Trail head.  8 miles into the race.  9 miles until the next aid station.

Aid Station #2 – East Verde River/Washington Park Trail head.  17 miles into the race.  7 miles until the next aid station where no drop bags are allowed, then 9 miles later is the next aid station.  It is strongly encouraged to have additional water bottles for the next two sections.  These sections have been affected by previous fires and have little to no shade.  This section will be run in the heat of the day.  These sections tend to run extremely slow and additional water/electrolytes/food are strongly encouraged.

Aid Station #4 – Tonto Creek/Fish Hatchery Trail head.  50 K into the race.  9 miles until the next aid station.  Any runners leaving this aid station after  2:00 p.m. are required to have trail lighting with them and are allowed pacers if they so desire. Cool weather clothing and/or rain gear should be considered.

Aid Station #5 – Christopher Creek/See Canyon Trail head.  42 miles into the race.  8 miles until the finish.  Any runners leaving this aid station after 5:00 p.m. are required to have trail lighting with them and are allowed pacers if they so desire. Cool weather clothing and/or rain gear should be considered.

DROP BAG RETREVIAL

The drop bags will be returned to Camp Tontozona as soon as possible after the aid station has closed. It is the responsibility of each runner to claim their drop bags. If you cannot retrieve your drop bags, have someone else do it for you. DROP BAGS NOT CLAIMED BY 9 AM, SUNDAY, April 27, 2008 WILL BE DONATED TO A LOCAL CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR DROP BAGS.
