Pacers are allowed as a safety consideration for fatigued runners in the rugged territory and changing weather conditions of the Highline trail area.  

Rules for pace runners

  1. One pacer at a time may accompany a runner from the beginning of the run if approved prior to the event by the Race Director.
  2. One pacer at a time may accompany a runner leaving fish hatchery aid station after 2:00 p.m.
  3. One pacer at a time may accompany a runner leaving Christopher Creek aid station after 5:00 p.m.
  4. Each pacer must wear an official identifying number to assist course monitors with race organization.  The pacer identification number will be issued at pre-race registration for those with pacers for the complete run.  The pacer identification number will be issued at fish hatchery aid station for those assisting runners from this point forward.
  5. All pacers must clearly identify themselves when passing through aid stations. It is extremely important that Race personnel know exactly who is on the trail and where.
  6. Pacers must stay with their runners at all times, except in the case of an emergency. The pacer may not continue on without an official Race participant.
  7. Pacers should utilize good judgment in assisting the official participant, no mechanical or physical assistance may be given by the pacer to the runner.
  8. Please respect the trails; littering of any kind is strictly prohibited.
