Race Update
Just another update from Perry.

Pretty exciting, the 50 mile race is about to fill. If you know of someone who wants to enter, tell them they better, very soon. The limit this year is 150 for each and the 50 mile is over 130. There is still plenty of room in the 50K, so it appears that race will be open until race day.

First off, there has been a tremendous response for the date of April 5, to clear the trail over the first 18 miles. THANK YOU!!! As this weekend draws nearer, I will try and help you all coordinate meeting and driving. There are some volunteers for the next sections, but would love to have additional help. If you volunteered for the weekend of April 5 and could work a later section of the trail instead, that would also be welcome. I received an email from one of our participants indicating the trail is pretty debris covered. A boy scout troop will be helping the early section of the trail also on the 5th for merit badge work. The forest service and you will be greatly appreciated if a few of the downed trees are cleared away. Thank you again for all those who are helping with trail work!!!

In regards to the insurance card request, I offer the following: This is not mandatory. In the extreme case you have an accident on the trail, we will be able to provide the hospital your information with ease. All this information will be shredded or returned after the race. I am simply trying to look out for you in advance of the run. Many have provided this information and I am much appreciated. Feel free to bring it with you at packet pick-up if you want to turn it in.

Packet pick-up is at Camp Tontozona anytime on Friday. Packets may be obtained Saturday morning at the starting line

Please email me interesting tidbits about yourself or someone that is running that you know. I would like to spread the word about our participants. Such as Dan Brenden, three consecutive “Last great race” finishes, going for another this year. Karsten Solheim, Amazing gentleman who will be attempting to be the oldest finisher ever at Western States this year. We have a very interesting field developing in the front of the pack, Erick Grossman, Bradley Mongold, Anton Krupicka, Josh Brimhall just to name a few!!! More info on the women’s side on the next update.

We still need some volunteers for the race, if you know of anyone, Please have them visit the website and sign up, or contact me.

Three small notes about the run:
#1. It will be dark for the start of the 50 mile, a light is needed
#2. You most likely will need extra water from 18 to 33, please have additional bottle/s ready at the mile 18 aid station
#3. No music devices allowed until daylight. Please wait until sunlight before turning them on. The start of the 50 mile is tight and dark.

Please keep checking the updated roster. I have inadvertently left some names off on previous lists. Let me know if you do not see your name.

Keep training! Enjoy yourself! You will be hearing from me about 2 more times. Hopefully I have something informative to tell you!!!

P!
